Last week, the Left Hand Agency team descended upon Portland, OR where our all-remote agency is headquartered.
Our team came in from every time zone in the contiguous US to enjoy quality team-building time and great feedback discussions, diving into our key values as an agency and more.
The first stop on our team trip was a fantastic session on the future of paid media hosted by SEM PDX. We followed that with a yummy team dinner at The Screen Door restaurant. It was pretty funny to get some in-person ratings on their Southern cooking from Arkansas based buyers Stacy Woelber and Sarah Philpott!
The next morning we all loaded up in a gigantic 12 person van to head out to scenic Columbia River Gorge. We stopped at the majestic Multnomah Falls which has such an Oregon vibe with all the moss covered rocks and slippery pathways. Even heights averse Stacy made the climb to the first bridge at the falls - way to go Stace!
Next, we headed to the Bonneville Dam to show the team the fish ladder viewing area where the salmon were putting on a show! At the fish hatchery nearby, the team fed some trout and met Herman the Sturgeon - a 10 ft long 80-year-old sturgeon that looks more dinosaur than fish!
After that we hit up Hood River with a fantastic lunch at Pfriem Brewing and a stop in orchard country winery Stave & Stone for some sampling. Our last stop was a team building cooking class at Dani's Kitchen Shop. We learned how to make homemade ravioli and chocolate lava cake. Suffice to say the food was so excellent it was pretty quiet while we devoured our creations!
On our last full day, we rented a Radious co-working space to host the whole team for some really great sessions. We discussed where we've been and where we're going as a team, learned about the latest AI tools from our programmatic lead Cole Osborne, discussed our mission, vision and values as an organization, and held a listening session.
Our night ended with a fantastic Peruvian dinner at Andina Kitchen which also happens to be a Left Hand Agency client!
These annual meetings mean so much to our team. They provide a rare opportunity to connect in person when we are all spread so far geographically.
It was incredible to meet our newest team members Andy Sumlin and Sarah Philpott in person.
We laughed a lot and learned a lot.
We love being a remote company for so many reasons, but these annual meetings remind us of the power of human connection when you get together face to face.
